Top Resident Concerns & Priorities

Living at Centra offers a great lifestyle, but apartment living also means sharing spaces with others.

Here are the top issues most commonly raised by residents.

In no particular order...

Incorrect use of rubbish bins
Large cardboard boxes must be broken down and flattened before going into recycling bins. Oversized boxes and non-recyclables quickly fill bins and leave no space for others. Removal boxes should be taken to refuse station.

Calling both lifts to the same floor
Please call only one lift at a time. Using both lifts unnecessarily inconveniences others and increases wear and tear. Lifts are expensive to maintain and replace (a new one is around $240,000–$270,000 each), and those costs are shared by all of us.

Dogs barking on balconies
Ongoing barking is disruptive, not just to fellow residents but also to our neighbouring buildings. Please be mindful and ensure pets are not left to bark for extended periods.

Pets using the front entrance
By-laws don’t allow pets to be walked through the front door. Pets may be carried, but otherwise must use the basement. When accessing the basement, please use the side exit door, not the sliding gate, to reduce wear and maintenance costs.

Liquids dripping onto balconies below
Water from hosing patios, watering plants or pet urine dripping onto units below is a serious and ongoing concern. What runs off your balcony often lands directly on someone else’s home.

Putting general waste in the recycle bins

Please DO NOT put general rubbish (non-recyclables) in the recycle bin (green lid).

Mud and dirt left in the car wash bay
Light vehicle washing is fine. Heavy mud and dirt are not. Our drains feed into an underground tank, and silt buildup causes pump failures and costly maintenance.

Residents parking in visitor spaces
Visitor parking is for visitors only. While it’s convenient, there aren’t enough spaces for everyone, so their use needs to be managed. Residents are not permitted to use visitor bays under the by-laws, as this would be unfair to those who genuinely need parking for their guests.

Loose glass down the garbage chute
Glass bottles thrown loose down the chute create loud noise for nearby units and often break on impact, scattering glass across the bin room floor. Please bag glass or dispose of it carefully.

Using the vehicle gate to enter or exit on foot
When walking in or out of the basement, always use the side pedestrian door, not the sliding vehicle gate. The gate is not designed for foot traffic, and increased wear leads to expensive repairs.
