GARBAGE

General Waste Bins (Green Top)

Rubbish Disposal

Rubbish should be disposed of in one of two ways:

  • Via the garbage chute on your floor, or

  • By placing rubbish directly into the waste wheelie bins in the bin room.

Note: There are two bin rooms which are located in visitor carpark area.

1. Bin room on east side of driveway is for 'general domestic'  waste.

2. The bin room on west side of driveway is for 'recycleable' waste ONLY.

(Please refer to the Redland Recycling Chart below)

Garbage chutes are located on all floors (Levels 1–7) and discharge into a commercial-size wheelie bin in the bin room (east side). Your unit key provides access to the bin room via the roller door. Ensure the roller door is closed before leaving.

Ground Floor Residents
There is no garbage chute on the ground floor. Residents must take rubbish directly to the bin room (east side).

Garbage Chute Use (level1-7)

  • All organic and non-recyclable waste must be securely bagged before use.

  • Do not place loose glass bottles, jars, or containers into the chute. These must be bagged to prevent breakage and excessive noise.

  • Ensure garbage is not snagged in chute and door is closed firmly.
  • Recycle wherever possible. Refer to Bin Divers  initiative for eligible items.

Large Items & Removals Boxes

  • Do not place bulky or oversized items in the bins. These bins service 53 apartments and fill quickly.

  • Large items must be taken by residents directly to a local refuse or transfer station. Nearest council recycle & waste centre - Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale. Click here for Map

Pet Waste

  • All pet waste (including kitty litter and lawn mats) must be double-bagged before disposal.

  • Dispose of pet waste via the chute or directly into the landfill bins.

  • Do not dispose of kitty litter or dog litter in toilets. It hardens in plumbing and can cause serious blockages to the sewage system.

Garbage shute on each floor

Bin Room for general waste is located near top of ramp in visitors carpark (East side).

Recycling room (& store room) located top of ramp in visitor carpark (West side).

Leave bottles/cans for 'containers for change' in grey/green containers - located in Recycle room (West side).

Recycling Bins (Yellow Top)

Recycling bins

  • Put all recyclables in yellow lid recycle bins. This includes all cardboard boxes, glass jars, milk cartons etc. Don't forget to cut up or crush cardboard boxes.
  • Large furniture/appliance boxes, foam, polystyrene, or timber crates must be taken by residents to local refuse tips (Redland Bay or Birkdale).
  • Put all cans/bottles in grey/green containers for our bin divers.       Link -'Bin Divers'

What can’t be recycled

  • No soft plastics or “crinkly” plastics (including plastic bags).
  • Please check what is and isn’t recyclable via the Redland City Council website: A–Z of Waste and Recycling.

General reminders

  • Our skip bins need to service 53 apartments—please don’t place large items in them.
  • Overfull bins mean extra collection costs for the Body Corporate.
  • Incorrect recycling often has to be sorted out by volunteers—your help makes a big difference.
